What is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization – it is the strategy to optimize your content to rank on search engine results.

Go and find anything on google, you will see pages rank on the top of other pages. Why? Just because of good SEO.

Your blog can also rank on search engines and you can also get free traffic from search engines, or what we called “Organic Traffic”.

How do search engines work?

Almost all the search engines keep their algorithms secret from the public. Because if they reveal their algorithms people can cheat the algorithm and rank on the first page even if they are not worthy for the searcher.

We can only assume its working strategy by noticing its behavior. But before I continue to talk about its assumed strategy, I will use Google as an example. Because Google is one the largest and most usable search engines in the world. Almost 90% of the world’s searches are done on google.

Whenever we introduce a new article, Google starts skimming the page in search of keywords used in the articles. According to the keywords used in the article, Google will know what your article is about.

Types of SEO

There are mainly two types of SEOs: On-Page SEO, and Off-Page SEO.

On-Page Optimization

In On-Page Optimization, you need to pay attention to mainly three points.

The first and most important point is your content.

Content

First, focus on your content because the content is king. You have to write good and valuable content for your readers. If you provide excellent content and give value to your readers they will follow you up and google will also get to know that you have some valuable content for the readers.

There are two types of content, evergreen content, and short-term content. Evergreen content that will live long and short-term content that will die after a couple of months like posting on best mobile phones in 2021.

Keywords

Use keywords in your content so that Google will know what your article is about. But never do keyword stuffing. Use 0.5-3 percent keywords in your article. If you exceed Google may penalize your ranking as a result. Use keywords in your URL, Titles, and somewhere in the body of content.

You can find keywords related to your content by using some keyword research tools.

Well structured post

Make sure you design your post well structured. You should have a title, heading, and then subheadings, so that content can be understandable to your readers.

Use images in your content and make sure they are optimized. Optimizing your images in the content is very important. Write a caption, description, and alt text of your images, so images can also be analyzed by the search engine. It will help in overall article ranking for that keyword.

Tools for On-Page Optimization

Yoast SEO

If you are using WordPress for your blog, you can simply install the Yoast SEO plugin. It is a very easy-to-use and simple tool for on-page optimization. By enabling this you will get a list of suggestions for SEO.

Off-Page Optimization

Off-Page optimization refers to improving the external factors in order to improve its position in search rankings. Following are some factors of off-page optimization.

Page Speed Optimization

Your web page speed must be lower than 3 seconds. If you will have slow page speed, it will lead to a high bounce rate. People may open your page link and then leave after 10 sec because of the slow speed. Results in high bounce rate thus lower the search engine rankings.

Backlinks

Backlinks are the links that are pointing to your page. It will tell the search engines that your page is very important. The more backlinks you have, the more page authority you will build. But creating high-quality and valuable backlinks is somewhat difficult. On the other side low-quality backlinks can harm your site ranking so beware of this.

If you are a new blogger and nobody is giving you backlinks because your site is not important. You can contact other bloggers to exchange the backlinks.

Security

The security of your webpage is also a very important factor in search engine rankings. Your webpage must have HTTPS enabled. For the past few years, Google has made it a ranking factor.

But what does HTTPS mean? HTTPS is the HyperText Transfer Protocol with Secure Socket Layer(SSL), which means the data transferred between your website and the visitors are always encrypted. You can install the SSL certificate on your website. It will be provided by your hosting providers.

Conclusion

It doesn’t take too much time. Just follow the techniques and your blog can be outstanding.

If you don’t follow the SEO rules, your blog might never come to the first result page of the search engine. Just give 10 to 15 minutes to your blog’s SEO, you will get good results and rank on search engines.
